We now offer Acupuncture at our East Orlando/Waterford Lakes Chiropractic Clinic!
Acupuncture is a traditional Chinese medicine that works to balance the flow of energy— known as chi or qi — that flows through pathways or meridians in your body. Proper qi flow is important for overall wellness, so if an injury or other problem disrupts your energy flow, pain and sickness appears as a result. By therapeutically inserting needles into specific points along these meridians, our acupuncturist can help you to re-balance your energy flow.
One of the most effective applications for acupuncture at Summit Chiropractic is pain relief and chronic pain management, but acupuncture is also known to help with many emotional and muscular conditions as well. Refined needle insertion techniques allow our skilled acupuncturist to place a needle with little or no sensation. Patients often report that they feel some warmth, pressure, or dull aching, and that the feeling is unfamiliar but relaxing, or they feel nothing at all!
How does acupuncture work?
Acupuncture involves the insertion of very thin needles through your skin at strategic points on your body to stimulate the central nervous system, which in turn releases chemicals into the muscles, spinal cord and brain to promote the body’s natural healing process.

What to expect during a treatment?
Every acupuncture experience is totally unique and relaxing. During your initial visit, Dr. Sylvia will take a comprehensive history of health and illness to determine root causes of imbalance. A treatment plan will be discussed, and your first acupuncture treatment will be performed. Your treatment plan may include infrared heat lamp, aromatherapy, herbal therapy, supplements, and nutritional or lifestyle recommendations. The initial visit lasts 75-90 minutes, and established acupuncture appointments last around 60 minutes.
